One thing you definitely cannot change

Is another person. Especially through trying to force them To change. If you try to force them, they will almost certainly react by resisting right back. People only change when they make new choices, and no one else can choose except them.

Trying to change people is not love. Holding space for them, seeing them as capable, and supporting their own unpredictable journey of growth is love.

If they never want to make new choices, that’s their choice. You get to decide how close or how far you keep them while you love them.
